KALAMAZOO, MI — A relic that may have been missing for 119 years has been returned to its “rightful owner” in Kalamazoo.
The cornerstone for the original Kalamazoo Free Methodist Church — which was erected in 1888 on what is now East Walnut Street — was gifted back to the church on Sunday, Feb. 22.
The Rev. Craig Watson doesn’t know how long the cornerstone was out of the church’s posession, but thinks it likely got misplaced in 1907 when the original church building was moved to the corner of Jasper and Jane streets…
