Homeowner charged $23,000 for water bill after house sat empty for 10 years

A HOMEOWNER is speaking out after she was faced with a $23,000 water bill from her house that sat empty for ten years.

When it was determined there was a leak under the sidewalk, the city dropped her water bill to $18,000.

Dana Newsome, a Virginia homeowner, has shared that she was faced with a $23,000 bill from the city of Portsmouth, but when the city realized there was a mistake, they dropped the bill by $5,000.
