Jonathan Abare sentenced to six years for Lubbock manslaughter

LUBBOCK, Texas— Jonathan Abare, 49, pleaded guilty to manslaughter on Friday and was sentenced to six years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for the strangulation murder of Clinton Boadie Park.

EverythingLubbock.com previously reported that the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office said the incident occurred a little after midnight in the 1500 block of North County Road 1430 in January 2025.

Court documents stated that a witness told police Park had assaulted one of his household members while they were unloading groceries. Two witnesses stopped and separated the two, but a short time later, one of the household members said she heard noise coming from the living room when Abare showed up.

Court documents also stated that a witness said Abare punched Park and began to choke him during the altercation. The witnesses told authorities that Abare said, “I’ll kill you,” four times as Park was on the floor. The witness also explained that Abare also said, “He needs to learn a lesson.”…
