Little Rock’s fleet of fire trucks are aging, what’s being done about it?

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — On New Year’s Eve 2024, just eight hours before fireworks were set to usher in the new year, Little Rock fire crews received an urgent call— one where a high-rise apartment building was on fire.

The Midtown Park Apartments on West Markham sat less than a mile and a half from Fire Station 7.

While dispatch immediately sent out that station’s ladder truck, the closest fire engine—the vehicle equipped with the necessary water and hoses to actually extinguish flames—did not get the call right away…
