Longtime Greeley Pizza Spot Gunning for Comeback

When a Colorado pizza joint has been such a part of its community, it’s tough for that community to let it go. A pizza restaurant in Greeley, near UNC, could be serving up pies and their ‘Bazooka’ mugs, once again.

Greeley’s Roma Restaurant – A Favorite for Decades

It’s impossible to know exactly how many people passed through the door of the original Roma Restaurant in Greeley between its opening in 1988 and its closure in 2025. Hundreds of thousands, at least, enjoyed their food, drinks, and their “vibe” near the college campus.

Equipment Issues Part of Roma’s Closing

After decades, the old restaurant became harder and harder to maintain, especially when it came to the equipment. They were even forced to stop using one of their ovens because plates failure. The remaining oven had temperature issues that were difficult to get resolved, and their dough roller broke down within their last days of operation.

Juggling all the things that the restaurant needed, and paying the employees just became too much for the owners, and the restaurant closed at the end of 2025. The restaurant’s (still up and running) website lists the 13 awards that it won, including “Best Family Restaurant,” an “Best Bartender.”

Two Months After Closure, The Roma Comeback Began

On February 14, 2026, a Facebook post from Roma went up: An employee of the restaurant had convinced the owners to let her and her family try to get the place open again. With that, a GoFundMe was setup, hoping to raise only $5,000. As of March, the fund had garnered almost $2,000…
