Allison Renville steps down from 2026 gubernatorial race

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – Allison Renville announced on Friday that she’s stepping down from the 2026 South Dakota gubernatorial race.

According to a news release, Renville cited funding constraints as the primary reason for her withdrawal.

Renville noted the campaign’s financial challenges were compounded by the long-term effects of federal funding cuts and broader budget reductions enacted during the Trump administration.

“Running for public office should not require personal wealth or access to elite networks.
