SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — A 24-year-old Chilean national was arraigned in court today after being extradited to the United States to face charges of trafficking stolen credit card information.
Alex Rodrigo Valenzuela Monje, also known as “VAL4K,” was charged by a federal grand jury in Salt Lake City on August 8, 2023, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Utah. The United States requested his extradition from Chile, which was approved by the Chilean Supreme Court on April 22, 2025. Following appeals, Valenzuela Monje was arrested on January 14, 2026, and extradited on February 25, 2026. He faces charges of trafficking in unauthorized access devices and unlawful transfer of means of identification to facilitate criminal conduct, to which he pleaded not guilty.
Court documents allege that from May 2021 to August 2023, Valenzuela Monje operated an illegal online card shop, selling unauthorized access devices through Telegram channels.
