Red Cross offers free diabetes screening with blood donations through March

CHARLESTON, S.C. — The American Red Cross is offering free diabetes screening with every blood donation through the end of March, giving donors access to A1C testing that can reveal whether donors may be prediabetic or at risk for diabetes.

The Red Cross is making a big push for donations and health tests as part of its Red Cross Month.

The organization said roughly one in five blood donors has tested positive for elevated A1C levels, which is a warning sign many donors were unaware of. Since launching the program in 2025, the Red Cross has provided test results to more than 920,000 blood donors nationwide…
