AMC Theatres says it expects to keep closing more locations than it opens, but the company has not said whether the AMC at the Annapolis Mall will be affected.
The world’s largest movie theater chain reported its 4th-quarter 2025 results this week and told investors it will continue trimming “underperforming locations” as it works to improve profitability in a movie business still adjusting to post-pandemic attendance trends.
AMC Says Attendance Is Down And Closures Will Continue
AMC reported $1.28 billion in revenue for the 4th quarter of 2025, a 1.4% decrease from the same quarter a year earlier. Attendance also declined. AMC said total attendance for the quarter was 56.3 million, down nearly 10% from 62 million in the 4th quarter of 2024.
Executives said the decline is part of a broader challenge facing theaters, including higher ticket prices, fewer films with mass-market appeal, and growing competition from streaming platforms that deliver new movies directly to viewers at home.
Annapolis Location Not Named, But Leases Will Be Reviewed
