HUNTINGTON COUNTY, Ind. (WANE)— One person died after a two-vehicle crash on northbound I-69 in Huntington County Saturday afternoon.
The crash, which happened at the 273-mile marker around 3:15 p.m., involved a Tesla sedan and a semi. That’s where IN-218/IN-5 crosses under I-69, near the town of Warren. The person who died was the driver of the Tesla. The occupants of the semi were checked by medics, and no serious injuries were reported among them.
According to the Huntington County Sheriff’s Department, the Tesla drove into the back of a parked semi-trailer. Police said eyewitnesses told them the driver of the Tesla had been using the shoulder to pass vehicles on the interstate at a high speed.
