St. Louis Public Schools settles lawsuit over free speech rights

ST. LOUIS – A free speech lawsuit that accused St. Louis Public Schools of silencing critics and restricting public comment at Board of Education meetings has now been resolved.

St. Louis Public Schools reached a settlement with local advocacy group Coalition with STL Kids on Friday, according to a news release from Chester Asher, the coalition’s founder.

The settlement requires SLPS to pay nearly $30,000 to support free speech education and advocacy through a legal clinic at Washington University…
