Boulder chef Sheila Lucero honored by Colorado Restaurant Association

Boulder’s Chef Sheila Lucero , the culinary director for Jax Fish House and Oyster Bar and Centro Mexican Kitchen, was inducted into the Colorado Foodservice Hall of Fame at a November ceremony. The honor, which includes a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Colorado Restaurant Association’s annual HOSPY Awards, recognizes the Boulder chef’s career that spanned from line cooking to executive leadership within the state’s hospitality industry.

Lucero began her tenure at Jax Fish House as a line cook, rose through the kitchen ranks to executive chef, and then eventually into her current role as culinary director for Big Red F Restaurant Group. The Boulder-based group operates a couple of local spots, including The Post Chicken & Beer, West End Tavern, Wonder Press Juice and Velvet Elk, along with Jax and Centro.

Under Lucero’s direction, Jax Fish House became the first restaurant in Colorado to be certified by Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch, a program that gives science-based recommendations to help businesses and consumers choose seafood from better-managed fisheries and farms, according to Big Red F…
