Juvenile caught with stolen firearm outside North Charleston Walmart

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — A juvenile was arrested Thursday afternoon after North Charleston police K-9 officers found a stolen firearm inside a bookbag during an encounter outside a Walmart, according to the department.

Police said an officer working an offduty security job at the store was alerted around 3:30 p.m. to a report of a firearm at a nearby business. An officer soon located a vehicle matching the suspect description leaving the area and followed it as the driver tried to evade him in the parking lot before stopping.

Both occupants were ordered out of the vehicle. Investigators said the passenger tried to grab a bookbag from inside the car and run before being detained following a brief struggle…
