HIGH SPRINGS, Florida — The High Springs Police Department, in collaboration with the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation, conducted undercover operations targeting illegal sales to minors.
The operation, held at Chevron on High Springs Main Street, followed complaints of tobacco and alcohol sales to underage individuals. On February 11, 2026, Kudamannage Perera, a 62-year-old store clerk from Ft. White, Florida, was arrested for selling nicotine products to a person under 21, according to the High Springs Police Department. Perera also had an active immigration hold from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
On February 19, 2026, Bhavesh Jayantilal Amin, a 57-year-old store owner from Gainesville, was also arrested for the same offense, with the High Springs Police Department leading the operation and the Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco assisting…
