The Florida Highway Patrol is honoring the life and service of Trooper Michael Diego, who tragically passed away in the line of duty on Feb. 18, with a video tribute and an online fundraiser to assist his family.

Diego died during a medical emergency while participating in a competitive process for the Patrol’s Criminal Interdiction Unit at the FHP Training Academy in Gadsden County. The tragedy occurred while Diego was participating in a “a competitive process for the Patrol’s Criminal Interdiction Unit, being held at the FHP Training Academy.”

He was the 55th Florida state trooper to die in the line of duty. Diego is survived by his mother, sister and his fiancé. Scroll down for video of the funeral services, and more information on the GoFundMe to help Diego’s family.
