Jackson State edges Alcorn State 13-8 with key innings

Jackson State used a five-run third inning to secure a 13-8 non-conference win over Alcorn State on Friday night at Braddy Field. The Tigers, now 6-4, have won three consecutive games and five of their last six.

The Tigers took an early lead, highlighted by a two-run double from Payton Boines that sparked a five-run third inning. Jackson State led 6-0 before Alcorn State chipped away, narrowing the gap to 6-3 in the fifth inning. The Tigers responded with four runs in the bottom half, including steals of three bases, to extend their lead to 10-3.

Jackson State added three more runs in the seventh, with RBI doubles and groundouts, pushing the score to 13-4. Alcorn State scored four in the ninth inning, but the Tigers held on for the victory.
