Students, parents and staff react to planned closure of UNO child care center

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Emotions are still running high on the UNO campus after the university announced its plans to close the doors of its child care center.

It’s been a tough year on the UNO campus. Budget cuts had to be made. The campus newspaper reports the budget was reduced by $1.9 million. No full-time employees were let go and some undergraduate programs were discontinued and blended into other programs.

But the news of the UNO Child Care Center being shut down after operating for more than three decades was a shock, leaving students with children at the day care wondering why…
