ROMEOVILLE, Ill. — One person was killed in a series of two car crashes on I-55 overnight in southwest suburban Romeoville, according to Illinois State Police.

ISP says troopers first responded to I-55 southbound near Weber Road just after 12:30 a.m. Sunday for a car-versus-person fatal crash. The person, whose identity has not yet been released by authorities, was taken to an area hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
A second crash then happened involving three other vehicles, according to ISP, with no injuries reported in that crash.
All lanes on southbound I-55 have since reopened after being closed for several hours early Sunday morning. No further information is available, and the crash is still under investigation…
