University Medical Center of El Paso announced the retirement of Dr. Joel Hendryx, who has served as Chief Medical Officer for the past eight years. Dr. Hendryx provided leadership through major challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the August 3, 2019 mass shooting.
As he retires, Dr. Hendryx expressed gratitude for the community and optimism for the hospital’s future. Dr. Victor Waters, who worked closely with him, will take over as the new Chief Medical Officer.
