WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A man has admitted to killing his mother-in-law in her home near Wichita in front of his 8-year-old son.
Stephen Rogers pleaded guilty Friday to second-degree murder and aggravated child endangerment.
The murder happened in July at the Longbranch Mobile Home Community at 47th Street South and Webb Road.
Authorities said the victim, 49-year-old Sharmaine Burke, called 911 to report that Rogers was drunk and threatening her with a gun. She told dispatchers that her 8-year-old grandson (Rogers’ son) was also in the room.
