CLEVELAND — An 81-year-old woman was found dead in the driver’s seat after her SUV drifted into a yard and crashed into a tree in Wayne County on Sunday evening, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers were called to County Route 70 just east of State Route 57 near the city of Rittman just after 6 p.m., according to a press release. A caller told dispatchers a single vehicle had struck a tree and the person inside was not responding to attempts to rouse them.
According to the highway patrol, the vehicle, a 2014 Kia Soul, was going east on County Route 70 — also known as Doylestown Road — when it “gradually drifted off the left side of the road where the road curved slightly to the right.” The SUV traveled more than 230 feet through a yard before coming to a stop under a pine tree…
