It was sadly confirmed Friday morning that a James Madison University student died at their apartment.
According to the Harrisonburg Fire Department, there was a fire reported at a student’s apartment complex. The current report states the JMU student went into cardiac arrest after starting a cooking fire.
“HFD responded to the 1400 block of Devon Lane after a caller reported what he believed was a fire in the apartment below his and smoke coming through the floor vents, according to an HFD release,” the report from WHSV said. “When firefighters arrived, they found a large volume of smoke from a ground-level apartment and personnel had to force entry into the building, where there was smoke throughout the unit and fire in the kitchen area, the release said.”…
