Group transforms unwanted guns into art, garden tools

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A local church is doing its part to address gun violence by taking unwanted firearms off the streets and transforming them into works of art.

What once was considered a weapon is being given a new meaning at Evergreen Presbyterian Church’s third annual Guns to Garden Safe Surrender event.

“We have some folks who have never touched a gun in their life,” said Evergreen Presbyterian Church Pastor Patrick Harley. “We have some folks who are gun collectors and believe in gun safety who are volunteering.”…
