On any typical day at the City of Chesapeake’s Development and Permits Department, you may often spot Bruce Wallace either reviewing a set of plans or having engaging conversations with inquisitive customers. His approach is attentive and straightforward, because with over twenty years of experience in construction, he’s comfortable sharing his expertise and takes pride in helping others gain clarity on their projects.
Before joining the City in August 2022 as Building Inspector II, Bruce spent 23 years running his own contracting business. He’s performed countless hours of physical labor, managed crews, coordinated subcontractors, and navigated the realities of budgets and deadlines.
