A mother from The Villages has been sentenced after attacking her son’s unwelcome gal pal.
Danna Bassett, 76, of the Village of Pinellas, has been placed on probation for one year after pleading no contest to a charge of battery this past week in Sumter County Court.
Officers had been called to a manufactured home in the Parkwood Oaks community at about 1 p.m. Nov. 15 where a man said he wanted a woman to leave, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. Officers had responded to a previous call at the property and had established that the woman was a resident, therefore if the man wanted her to leave, he would have to go through an eviction process.
Bassett, who is the man’s mother, showed up. She also demanded that the woman be removed from the property. Bassett was also advised of the eviction process, but said she would “make her leave.” Bassett went into the manufactured home and began throwing items out the door…
