Genoa man arrested for bank robbery after 110 mph chase in Ottawa Co

ALLEN TOWNSHIP – Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man whom they say robbed a Genoa Bank Feb. 27. The arrest came after the man collided with multiple vehicles and spike strips were used to stop a chase through Ottawa County at speeds of more than 110 mph.

While no one appears to have been hurt in the chase or robbery, the suspected robber rammed a police vehicle and hit two other cars with his getaway vehicle as he fled from five law enforcement agencies.

“The way he was operating that vehicle before we got close to him was (at) a high rate of speed. He passed the deputy at about 95 mph on Ohio 51,” Sheriff’s Office Captain of Operations Aaron Leist said. “It was a collaborative team effort from multiple agencies across the county. We believe we had the safest outcome possible.”…
