Bond set for woman accused in fatal Turnpike chase and crash in Broward

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. — A judge on Saturday set bond at more than $3.5 million for a woman accused in a deadly crash following a police chase Thursday afternoon on Florida’s Turnpike.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, deputies were assisting Coconut Creek Police Department with a stolen vehicle investigation out of Fort Lauderdale when the driver of a stolen pickup truck struck a marked BSO unit and then a marked Coconut Creek police unit near Sample Road and the Turnpike shortly after 4 p.m.

Authorities said law enforcement officers began chasing the vehicle after it entered the southbound lanes of the Turnpike. Florida Highway Patrol troopers assisted in the pursuit, which ended near Mile Marker 58 in a crash that left one person dead…
