OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) — A weak boundary will take on the form of a weak cold front and move south this evening. While that is happening, humid air from the Gulf is advancing northward. This will make it possible for a few hours this evening to see a couple of storms produce large hail across parts of the area.
The higher dewpoints were not picked up on the models yesterday, which is why this chance for severe weather came up pretty quickly today. Due to this, SPC has upgraded parts of the OKC Metro to a Slight Risk for severe weather, mostly for the hail threat.
As you can see below, the number of storms this evening will likely be low, but they could produce the large hail in the range of 1-2″.
We’ll keep rain in the forecast overnight, but the severe threat should really only occur within a few hour window this evening…
