Gresham to Portland I-84 pursuit ends with 13-year-old and three others in custody

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — What began as a reported car theft and possible kidnapping ended with a traffic jam on I-84 and a 13-year-old girl and three others in custody after a police pursuit from Gresham into Portland.

A teenage girl was with family members at Sky Zone near Northeast Stark Street and Northeast Hogan in Gresham when she made a plan to take her family’s car with three other people. A family member reported the car stolen and believed the car had been taken with the family’s 13-year-old granddaughter inside, a Gresham Police spokesperson told KATU.

Police later spotted the car, and an officer tried to stop it. Those inside the car tried to escape officers, prompting a pursuit that involved multiple agencies including Gresham Police and Multnomah County, in addition to Portland Police Bureau air support…
