A pedestrian is dead and a man from Adelanto is in custody following a hit-and-run crash near the intersection of Newport Boulevard and 24th Street in Newport Beach around 2:02 a.m. Saturday.
The suspect, 26-year-old Jesus Alvarez, was driving a white Chevrolet Corvette at the time of the crash. Alvarez drove away from the scene and was found nearby, according to the Newport Beach Police Department.
Alvarez was arrested for DUI and his passenger, 26-year-old Ashley Guerrero, was arrested for disorderly conduct.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Their identity has not been released to the public at this time…
