An inmate at William Donaldson Correctional Facility in Bessemer was found unresponsive early Feb. 27, according to authorities.
Donald Jackson, 78, was discovered lying on his bed in an open dorm at the facility around 12:10 a.m. He was pronounced dead at 1:06 a.m. at the prison, located at 100 Warrior Lane.
