Cop Hurt As Wild Tri-State Chase Slams To A Stop In Harrison Township

A 90-minute police chase that zigzagged across state lines ended in a wrecked SUV, a flipped cruiser and a Cincinnati officer in the hospital Saturday, after officers finally spun out the suspect’s vehicle in Harrison Township.

According to Cincinnati police, the pursuit wrapped up when a third CPD unit used a PIT maneuver that sent the suspect’s white SUV into a tree. One Cincinnati police cruiser wound up on its side, the SUV was heavily damaged, the lone driver was arrested at the scene and one officer was taken to a hospital with what officials described as minor injuries.

How the pursuit unfolded, according to authorities

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office told reporters the chase began in Norwood, then headed west into Indiana before looping back into Ohio and ending in Harrison Township, with the run lasting about 90 minutes, according to WLWT. Investigators said the driver intentionally hit a Cincinnati Police cruiser on New Biddinger Road, then rammed a second CPD vehicle on Lees Creek Road before that third unit pulled off the PIT maneuver that ended the pursuit and led to the arrest.

Earlier this month, a Hamilton County deputy was hurt in a downtown chase that resulted in felony charges for the driver, as reported by FOX19. Area law enforcement agencies have been working more closely together when pursuits cross jurisdictional lines, a trend that has also sparked ongoing debate about pursuit tactics and public safety.
