Search underway for man who went into the Wolf River but never resurfaced, MPD says

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Authorities are searching for a man who went into the Wolf River in Memphis on Sunday and never resurfaced.

The man was identified as Byron Baughns.

According to the Memphis Police Department (MPD), a fisherman watched the man take off his shoes and socks and go in to swim. But then, he went under water and never came back up. He was reported missing near North Second Street and Stiles Drive.

Police said Baughns left his wallet on the riverbank. He was wearing a white hat, a red shirt and black pants at the time of his disappearance…
