FAIRPORT, N.Y. — Lucas West, a Fairport native, is making waves on NBC’s singing competition “The Voice” as he competes in the blind auditions.
West chose “Bennie and the Jets” for his blind audition, a song he feels deeply connected to. “It’s sort of one of my staple tunes,” West said. “It felt like the right choice in terms of what I could show off with vocally.”
West chose to join Legend’s team. He shared his inspirations and aspirations, highlighting the impact of legendary artists like Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, Elton John, and The Beatles on his career.
Coaches Adam Levine and John Legend both turned their chairs for West in the middle of his rendition of Elton John’s “Bennie and the Jets.” West chose to join Legend’s team. The episode premiered on Monday, Feb. 23, and you can watch his performance on the YouTube channel for “The Voice.”
