New radiology lab puts City College students in real-world clinical setting

When students walk through the doors of the radiology department, they’re welcomed into a laboratory designed to meet their needs and help them succeed. With staff members that are laser-focused on guiding their students through achievement, the brand-new laboratory now mirrors the equipment found in a hospital.

“Though we had two rooms that were operating, the flow of it did not work for students,” Radiology and Imaging Sciences Director Bruce Oda said.“The old lab, I would say, was dingy, darker.”

Oda said that he views his students less as apprentices and more as colleagues. He believes that since students will soon be receiving the same level of certification as him, as well as from the same medical industry, that they should be treated and viewed as such…
