BATON ROUGE, La. — The Jackson State women’s bowling team finished third at the 2026 TNBA Open, highlighting a strong weekend that included victories over several nationally ranked opponents. The Lady Tigers earned the No. 2 seed after going 6-4 in the qualifying rounds and advanced to the championship bracket.
In the opening round of the tournament, Jackson State faced the top seed, Sam Houston State, ranked 14th nationally. The Tigers managed to win one game in the series before falling 4-1. They were then eliminated by No. 23 Central Missouri in the second round but rebounded to defeat No. 4 Oklahoma Christian in the final positional round, splitting the first four games before winning the last two.
During qualifying, Jackson State scored notable wins over No. 17 Tulane, Oklahoma Christian, and Central Missouri. The team also secured victories against SWAC opponents Grambling, Southern, and Alabama State. Key players Saida Lugo and Faith Washington both finished in the top 10, with Lugo placing sixth overall with a 206.80 average and 1,034 pins.
