Birmingham Man Charged After Allegedly Interfering in Immigration Arrest

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBMA) — A federal grand jury has charged a Birmingham man with interfering in the arrest of an undocumented immigrant, federal officials announced this week.

According to a statement from Acting U.S. Attorney Catherine L. Crosby, a one-count indictment filed in U.S. District Court charges 34-year-old Cesar Acosta with impeding a federal officer. Court documents allege that Acosta interfered with an officer from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement while the officer was attempting to carry out an arrest.
