Utility pole snapped by truck on Staten Island, bringing down jumble of overhead wires

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A tractor-trailer struck and sheared off part of a utility pole in Richmond Valley Monday evening, causing a tangled mess of wires to fall onto the vehicle and roadway.

The incident occurred at around 5:10 p.m. at the corner of Richmond Valley Road and Weiner Street.

Several transformers and a junction box were brought down, while wires dangled overhead and were tightly wrapped around the damaged section of the pole, binding it to the vehicle’s trailer…
