During the Feb. 19 Northampton Borough Council meeting, the borough’s first responders were thanked for their response during the Jan. 31 evacuation of Creekside Condominiums, an active senior living community at East 22nd Street and Hockendoqua Avenue.
A frozen fire sprinkler system caused a pipe to burst and flood the building. As water reached the building’s electrical panel, first responders were already on the scene evacuating residents. The Northampton Fire Department, Northampton Borough Police Department and Northampton Regional EMS all responded to the emergency, with EMS even bringing chair lifts to help residents evacuate safely.
