Lafayette man arrested, solving multiple vehicle burglary cases

CROWLEY, La. (KLFY) – Acadia Parish authorities have arrested a 22-year-old Lafayette man in connection with a string of vehicle burglaries that occurred north of Crowley and in the Roberts Cove community. Ranslamani Markelion Taylor was taken into custody on Feb. 26, 2026, on an outstanding warrant related to the Jan. 18, 2026, incidents.

During the investigation, detectives identified the vehicle used in the crimes. Interviews with witnesses provided additional information that led investigators to obtain an arrest warrant for Taylor. Officials confirmed the arrest resolves multiple burglary cases reported in the area in mid-January.

Taylor was transferred to the Acadia Parish Jail following his arrest on an outstanding warrant. He was booked on two counts of vehicle burglary, one count of attempted vehicle burglary and three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. A judge set his bond at $14,000.

In an unrelated investigation, deputies arrested Tyler Paul Person, 24, of Church Point for burglary on March 1, 2026. The arrest followed a report of a suspect breaking a rear window to enter a residence located near Church Point…
