SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A Sioux Falls-based developer has sued the son-in-law of former South Dakota Gov. and current Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, with the lawsuit accusing Kyle Peters and the LLC of which he is the only member of “wrongfully competing and diverting business from A1 Development for years.”

Court documents describe A1 Development as a company which helps South Dakota clients with development, construction, permitting and government relations. Kyle Peters, who is husband to Noem’s daughter Kassidy Peters, is also a Watertown city councilman.
Stephen Landon, who is set to represent Peters in the case, told KELOLAND News on the phone Monday afternoon the lawsuits’ claims are without merit. Landon also said there is a counter-claim which counsel plans to file.
