DHS: ‘Law and order will prevail’ in federal property damage acts

The Department of Homeland Security’s response to two different incidents of damage to federal property in the Treasure Valley paints a bleak picture for the futures of the people implicated in the crimes, if convicted.

A spokesperson from DHS answered an inquiry from the Idaho Press about the recent damage to two buildings with federal space inside. The first incident, on Feb. 18, happened at the St. Luke’s Health Systems-owned Portico North building in Meridian. The building contains a few DHS office spaces. The second incident, on Feb. 21, occurred at an office in southwest Boise that is leased by DHS and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

“Secretary (Kristi) Noem has been clear: Anyone who destroys federal property and assaults or obstructs law enforcement will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” the spokesperson said in an email. “Law and order will prevail.”…
