BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man accused of exchanging gunfire with a deputy after stealing roughly $70 worth of beer from a Bakersfield Rite Aid, prompting a massive law enforcement response and hourslong standoff, has pleaded no contest to charges including attempted murder.
Jeremy Rene Pletcher, 35, faces 17 years and eight months in prison at next month’s sentencing hearing, prosecutors said.
