Some sloppy winter weather is headed our way today in Western New York, and that has led the National Weather Service to issue a Winter Weather Advisory for parts of Western New York today. We could see a mix of snow, sleet, freezing rain, and rain today as the day progresses.
Winter Weather Advisory In Place For Western New York
The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Allegany from 7 am until 4 pm today. There is a chance of freezing rain, with the biggest issue being ice forming on trees and power lines.
That ice could also cause slick road conditions, leading to a slow and slippery ride around the region today.
Light freezing rain will develop across the Southern Tier this morning and continue through midday, before temperatures warm above freezing this afternoon. This may cause icy spots on untreated roads, parking lots, and sidewalks – please use caution if driving or walking outside. pic.twitter.com/wWkGCpD2ge
