Painter says he’s still owed thousands after delayed payment from Knoxville apartments

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A professional painter who operates a small business has been waiting since last summer to be paid for a big job he completed at a Knoxville apartment complex.

Jermaine Buchannon is a self-employed professional painter. He started his own painting business nearly 20 years ago. Like all private business owners, he wants to be paid on time for his service. He had a big job painting apartments and cleaning them for new occupants last summer, from late July through August. Buchannon and his crew worked at the Steeplechase Apartment complex in North Knoxville.

“I haven’t gotten paid. We’ve done 73 to 74 apartments, or invoices that I had originally. I’ve gotten paid for 10 invoices, which still leaves a very large balance,” said Buchannon…
