Witness tells police deadly Myrtle Beach fire started after victim knocked lit candle into trash can

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A fire that left one person dead last week in Myrtle Beach started after the person living in the home accidentally knocked a lit candle into a trash can, a witness told police.

Authorities have not released the name of the person who died after the fire broke out at a home near Highway 15 and 5th Ave. South. Crews were called to the home late Wednesday night and were able to get the fire under control by about 1 a.m.
