Lake Worth Beach to receive $850,000 federal grant to expand affordable housing

LAKE WORTH BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — The Lake Worth Beach Community Redevelopment Agency is set to receive $850,000 in new federal funding aimed at expanding affordable housing options in the city, according to documents released by the agency.

The money comes through the 2026 Community Project Funding package. The CRA announced on March 1, it will use the funds to help lower homeownership costs for households earning below 120% of the area median income — a group increasingly strained by South Florida’s ongoing affordability issues.

Housing prices across the region have climbed for several years, and local officials say the lack of reasonably priced homes continues to affect workers and families looking to stay in the communities where they live and work.
