Shots fired at Jackson home before fire: JFD

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Authorities in Jackson are investigating after shots were fired at a home before a fire occurred at the same location.

Chief Fire Investigator Charles Felton said firefighters responded to a house fire in the 3100 block of Charleston Drive around 7:00 p.m. on March 2, 2026.

When units arrived at the scene, they saw smoke and flames coming from the home. Felton said firefighters were informed that the home was being used by squatters. He said shots were fired at the home before the fire occurred.

Investigators determined the fire was caused by human involvement and was classified as incendiary. At this time, there are no suspects for the fire or the shooting. No injuries were reported.
