Belt appeals judge’s ruling to remove him from office

(Council Bluffs) — A former Pottawattamie County supervisor is appealing a judge’s decision late last year to remove him from office.

Following a civil trial in December, including two days of testimony, Pottawattamie County District Court Judge Roger Sailer issued a ruling that Scott Belt could no longer serve on the board of supervisors, finding sufficient evidence that he was intoxicated at an official event. A legal petition was filed by County Attorney Matt Wilber, citing Belt’s actions at a town hall meeting in Carson on November 5th, 2025, and several other incidents of alleged drunken conduct by Belt.
