JFAC votes to restore funding for medical education programs, community colleges

BOISE — The Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee voted for health education programs and the state’s community colleges to have their pending budget cuts restored following a series of education-focused votes on Monday.

The series of decisions comes after JFAC adopted added 2% cuts in February for most state agencies and leadership on the committee framed budget enhancement requests — which add upon the baseline agency budgets set by the body — as the avenue state agencies can use to restore funding where it is most needed.

In each case, the decisions made Monday and for the remainder of this budget enhancement process will require an affirmative vote from the House and Senate to be passed into law…
